Refrigerator repair for Forest Glen homes
Counter-depth and slim refrigerators suit the narrow kitchens in some converted Forest Glen buildings, but a tight fit traps heat around the condenser. A unit that runs all the time may be short of airflow or have dirty coils. Pull it out carefully, vacuum the coils, and measure the exact opening before any part or replacement is ordered. Note the model number as well.
Forest Glen includes condos converted from unusual historic buildings as well as ordinary brick homes.
Refrigerator faults to know
| What you notice | Usual causes |
|---|---|
| Runs all the time | Dirty coils, a door gasket that no longer seals, or a faulty temperature sensor |
| Loud buzzing, rattling or squealing | Worn fan motor, ice touching a fan blade, or a struggling compressor |
Check this first
- Set the fresh food side to 40°F or below and the freezer to 0°F, the temperatures the FDA recommends (opens in a new tab).
