Oven repair in Montgomery & Howard County
An oven that will not heat usually has a failed bake element on electric models or a weak igniter on gas models. Uneven baking often comes from a bad temperature sensor. AFZ Appliance Repair fixes gas, electric and wall ovens at your home in Montgomery and Howard County, MD. Call (240) 758-5566.

Common oven problems
| What you notice | Usual causes |

| Burns on one side or bakes unevenly | Failed broil or bake element, bad sensor, or a worn door gasket letting heat out |
| Temperature is way off | Temperature sensor or control calibration |
| Door stays locked after self-clean | Door lock motor, or the control waiting for the oven to cool |
| Broiler does not work | Failed broil element or igniter, or a control fault |

Check these before you call
- Put an oven thermometer on the center rack and compare it to the display after 20 minutes.
- Check the breaker. Electric ovens use a double breaker that can half-trip.
- Look at the bake element for blisters or breaks once the oven is fully cool and off.
- If you smell gas, turn nothing on or off. Leave the house and call your gas utility from outside.

Oven repair by brand
Our oven repair covers GE, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG and Maytag, plus Thermador and Viking. Temperature sensors, bake elements, igniters and door lock motors are common repairs, and the right part depends on the exact model number.
Our repairs carry a 30-day warranty on labor and parts. See the full brand list.
Finding the model number
On ovens, the model and serial number are usually on the frame behind the oven door, or on the side trim of a wall oven. Read it to us when you call.
Common questions
Why does my gas oven take so long to heat or never light?
A weak igniter can glow but not draw enough current to open the gas valve. It is one of the most common gas oven repairs.
Can a bad sensor make food burn?
Yes. If the temperature sensor reads low, the oven overheats. Comparing the display to an oven thermometer is a quick way to find out.
Do you repair Viking or Thermador ovens?
Yes. We service Thermador and Viking, along with major brands such as GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, KitchenAid and Maytag.

Larger kitchens in Potomac and Darnestown often have double wall ovens, where one cavity can fail while the other keeps working. Busy family kitchens around Wheaton and Derwood may run an oven for hours each day, and the self-clean cycle puts extra stress on door locks and control boards right before guests arrive.

Subdivisions in Ilchester and Marriottsville often have wall ovens paired with a separate cooktop, with the control board and cooling fan sitting close together. Around Clarksville and River Hill, larger built-in ovens are common, so measure the opening and compare the repair cost before you consider replacing one.
